Description

Britain’s Royal Collection is one of the most important art collections in the world. It contains paintings and drawings by many of the greatest masters of Western art, including Leonardo, Raphael, Holbein, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Van Dyck and Vermeer, as well as superb examples of works of art from all over the world – English and European furniture, European and Oriental ceramics, silver and gold, Fabergé, sculpture, books and manuscripts, arms and armour, and unique works of art such as the ‘Timur Ruby’ necklace. This lavishly illustrated book presents a selection of the finest treasures in the Royal Collection, from the early Renaissance to the present day. Specially commissioned photography and detailed histories combine to produce an overview of the collection and of royal collectors, as well as an introduction to some of the most important masterpieces in existence.

Other titles published by Scala for the Royal Collection include: Seven official souvenir guides, Beauty, Sex & Power, Dutch Landcapes, Italian Paintings and Drawings, and The Northern Renaissance
