Description
Successive generations, changes of fortune, accidents, disasters, human courage and determination have all made their mark on Llandaff Cathedral.
Dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, as well as Welsh Saints Dyfrig, Teilo and Euddogwy, the ancient Cathedral Church saw its beginnings in the middle of the sixth century in the community that formed around the seat of its founding bishops. Lying peacefully in a steep hollow, sheltered from the view of marauders by land and sea, and close to vital river crossings, Llandaff Cathedral was strategically secure during the early period of its development as a Christian community.
The scars of the past have lent a fascinating vibrancy to the Cathedral’s history and are illuminated throughout this beautifully illustrated guide.
