Description
The present Cathedral was dedicated in 1077. The rebuilding work on the transept, vault and choir offers one of the earliest examples of the Gothic style. After the martyrdom of St. Thomas Becket, Canterbury quickly became the most popular pilgrimage site in England, as the wealth of the Cathedral decorations attest. This fully-illustrated short tour conducts the visitor through the full glory of the Cathedral and its related buildings, with sites of particular interest included in the fold-out plan inside the front flap.
Other titles published by Scala for Canterbury Cathedral include: Canterbury Cathedral, Canterbury Cathedral Souvenir, Geoffrey Chaucer, The Red Dean, Saint Thomas Becket, Stained Glass of Canterbury Cathedral and Architecture of Canterbury Cathedral.
