Description

The Albright-Knox Art Gallery, a major international venue for modern and contemporary art, has a 148-year tradition of taking risks in collecting and exhibiting the art of its time. This commitment has given rise to one of the world’s most extraordinary collections of art, which includes works by renowned artists such as Francis Bacon, Arshile Gorky, Willem de Kooning, Roy Lichtenstein, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Jennifer Steinkamp, Robert Therrien, and Andy Warhol. In this sumptuously illustrated handbook, Curator of Education Mariann W. Smith takes a thematic approach that complements the overall curatorial approach of the Gallery, presenting well-known masterworks of the modern era alongside works by the most exciting and influential artists working today.
