ABOUT THE AUTHOR

W. Eugene Kleinbauer is a specialist in Byzantine and Medieval art and has lectured and written extensively about Hagia Sophia. He is Professor Emeritus of both the Department of Art History and the Department of near Eastern Languages and Civilization at Indiana University Bloomington, USA. Antony White is a publisher and art historian who studied history and art history at Oxford and Columbia universities. Henry Matthews is an architectural historian who studied at Cambridge University and has practised architecture and taught at universities on both sides of the Atlantic.
