Scala publishes new titles with the Cleveland Museum of Art DECEMBER 2013

Four new titles with the Cleveland Museum of Art to help celebrate its new expansion

More than ten years ago, the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, embarked on a renovation and expansion project to transform its outdated spaces and elevate the level of architectural and artistic display in its exemplary collection. At the beginning of 2014, this ambitious and much anticipated new campus designed by world renowned architect Raphael Viñoly will open to the public amid grand fanfare and festivity. 

Scala Arts Publishers is thrilled to be part of the Museum’s celebration, publishing four books of to help commemorate the new building as well as the magnificent collection that it holds. 

Published in 2012, the large scale, lavishly illustrated volume Treasures from the Cleveland Museum of Art offers the most comprehensive overview of the museum’s holdings which spans 6,000 years of achievements in the arts. 

In contrast, the more intimate The Cleveland Museum of Art: Director’s Choice (2012) offers a personal tour of personal favourites in the collection, including both famous highlights and lesser-known gems.  Published for the Museum’s grand re-opening at the beginning of 2014, The Cleveland Museum of Art: Art Spaces features the architecture of the newly transformed campus itself, including the old and new buildings the new light-filled courtyard covered by a gracefully soaring glass roof. 

And finally, The CMA Companion: A Guide to the Cleveland Museum of Art (due early spring 2014), will serve as the Museum’s definitive handbook, illustrating 400 of its nearly 40,000 works and serving as your guide to one of the most prestigious encyclopaedia collections in the United States.
